THE INFORMATION PACKAGE
This comprehensive pack is designed to provide you with most of
your information about the school. If you would like an information
pack or require further information please phone 9477 3627 or ask
at the Orientation sessions.
The Information Package contains:
The Handbook
This is a very detailed document with wide ranging information about
the school. It is designed to be used as a reference by all parents
during their association with the school. It contains everything
from the school motto, the discipline policy and canteen details
to a school map.
Enrolment Form
DET enrolment form must be completed by parents. This includes verification
of the child's name and date of birth. (e.g. original of a birth
certificate or passport.) Parents also need to present an immunisation
certificate either with the enrolment form or as soon as the preschooler
boosters have been administered. This certificate is obtained from
their doctor or health officer at the Council. (Unvaccinated children
may be excluded from school in the event of an infectious epidemic.)
The new enrolment form includes a section about Web Services. If you tick "YES" it means
that your child will be able to use the school's protected and secure Internet facilities. The Internet is regularly
by all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Religious Instruction Form
The section on religion is optional on the enrolment form but we
still need to know a parent's choice for their child's religious
instruction. Therefore parents are required to fill in a separate
religious instruction form.
Kindergarten Questionnaire
This provides valuable information about the child and helps teachers
cater for their needs. You can also download
the form here and hand in at the Parent Information Night.
Emergency Card
This is a quick reference card used if we need to contact parents
or a carer urgently.
Uniform Order
Form -
Suggested Kindy Quantities
As the uniform is only available from the school uniform shop, parents
need to either visit the shop or complete an order and return it
to the school office. You can see our school uniform on the 'School
Services' page.
School Curriculum and Textbook Fees
The Kindergarten fee covers textbooks, photocopying and technology
levy, as well as, other consumables used in Kindergarten. Other
items included in the children's learning program such as, visiting
performers and excursions are paid for during the year.
School Resource Contribution Fund
The Parents and Citizen Association (P&C) collects a voluntary
contribution that is used to resource the school's programs.
PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Tuesday 11th August, 2009 at 7:00pm in the library.
(Enter via Telopea Street and follow the signs)
This session will provide information about the school presented
by a range of speakers representing different aspects of school
life, as well as, suggestions on how to prepare your child for school
and curriculum information. Previous Kindergarten parents have found
this a very worthwhile experience and we urge you to attend.
CHILDREN'S ORIENTATION MORNING VISITS
We would like your child to visit the school on:
Tuesdays - 27th October, 3rd and 10th of November
or
Wednesdays - 28th October, 4th and 17th November
from 9:15 am to 11:00 am
Please meet in the School Hall.
For some children this will be their first contact with school
while others, with older siblings, will find it a familiar environment.
For all the children, this visit will mark the first time they are
expected to be a "school child". We want it to be a happy
experience and one where they develop positive feelings about their
new school.
During their orientation visits your child will be encouraged to
participate in some simple activities with other new kindergarten
children. Please try to prepare your child for these brief periods
of separation. Of course, if your child is upset, please stay with
them
During
your child's last visit he or she will be taken on a tour of the
school by one of the present Kindergarten children. They will end
their tour enjoying morning tea (please pack something for them)
in the grounds with the current Kindergarten children.
We expect the uniform shop to be open during some of your visits
and you will be able to buy items and place orders.
STARTING DATE FOR KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten 2010
start school at 9.30am on Tuesday 2 February
Kindergarten children usually start school on the third day of
Term 1 (teachers -day 1, Years 1-6 -day 2, Kindergarten -day 3).
For the first 3 weeks Kindergarten children finish at 2.25pm.
From week 4 of Term 1 until the end of the year they end their day at 3.00pm,
five minutes before the rest of the school.
TEA AND TEARS MORNING TEA
On the first day of school Kindergarten parents are invited to
a morning tea by the P&C. This is held in the Waratah Cottage and is an
opportunity for parents to share the big event of starting a child
at school with other parents.
PARENT/TEACHER INFORMATION EVENING
This is usually held during the third week of school and provides
parents with more specific information about the Kindergarten curriculum
and classroom routines. There is also the opportunity for parents
to ask general questions. This is not the forum for questions about
individuals. These are dealt with during prearranged interviews
or later at the half yearly interviews.
